A poem out of the perspective of a Lighthouse on an island (Texel) in the north of the netherlands.
POEM:
Heavy do you navigate through gaias breath
your hopes are high, where might i be?
my place is the same for over hundred years,
but lonely i am not,
a lot of souls visit me everyday,
seeking guidance from me.
We are not the same, you leave, i wait.
I reach out for you,
but i do not force.
For my gaze can decide whether
you’ll starve
or live in a life of excess.
My vision changed over time,
i was nothing but a matchstick,
with liquid spirit as my life’s elixir.
Little Men they were,
those who made me see further,
they gave me a new coat.
They made me find even the littlest boat.
Red is my body, bright is my brain,
For you to uncover me,
it does not matter if snow and rain.
My old fellow,
your skin wears many shades of brown from the time.
you bring Men & Women, machines everyday,
what do you have for me today?
Finally you found me, even though i did not hide
high it is harder, but more easy when its low, the tide.
I waited for you, but without open arms.
for my duty it is, to protect you from all harms.
